Antique Coffer & Blanket Chest
One of the earliest known forms of furniture (dating back to ancient Egypt), the Coffer was used to store valuable items as well as clothing. A rectangular box with a hinged top, during the 17th century the coffer was often made with one or two drawers at the base. This in turn gave rise to the popularity of the chests of drawers.
